Welcome to the Riverside where locals have been meeting and eating for over 100 years. Peter(Dingo) and Sandy Jones are your hosts.
A favourite eating place and watering hole for both locals and visitors, the Riverside offers extensive seasonal lunch and dinner menus featuring, amongst other items, tender and tasty steaks, succulent seafoods, gourmet pizzas and a selection of bar snacks. There is also a delicious dessert board, all made in house. Riverside also offers a chef’s board featuring specialty dishes.
Riverside has an expansive riverbank deck for summer dining.
We stock a selection of NZ beers and cider on tap, plus a variety of NZ and international bottled beers and ciders, NZ and Australian wines, Spirits, and RTDs as well as a wide range of both low alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages.
Riverside has a function room available for meetings, private dinners, parties and wakes. There is a delicious finger food menu for functions. Buffet lunches and dinners for groups are available by arrangement.
Riverside still has on display much memorabilia from the time it was the Te Kuiti Gentlemen’s Club. We also have a display of historic photos of Te Kuiti, local and international shearing icons.
Riverside is the meeting venue for the Altrusa Club on the first Tuesday of each month and North King Country Young Farmers on the first and third Wednesday evenings.
Te Kuiti is a town where many pioneering legends come from. Fondly known as the shearing capital of New Zealand, Te Kuiti is a small town located just a short drive from the world famous Waitomo Caves, in the Waikato region. A huge statue of a shearer with a sheep dominates the landscape at the southern end of the town.
Te Kuiti has a great small community vibe, with friendly locals and a rich culture. The prime time to visit Te Kuiti is in autumn when Te Kuiti puts on the Great NZ Muster, normally held the weekend after Easter each year.
The place to eat when you visit is the Riverside.
We also operate a courtesy coach to get you home safely at the end of your wonderful evening.
It's great to eat out occasionally and the Riverside is our first choice. The place is welcoming, Sandy and Pete are great hosts and the meals are delicious.
